MACAO, June 7 (Xinhua) -- The number of border crossings this year in China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) has surpassed 100 million, according to the SAR's Public Security Police Force (CPSP) on Saturday.
The figure was reached 18 days earlier than in 2024.
Macao's border control points have been operating at high volumes, with average daily crossings reaching 633,000, a year-on-year increase of 10.8 percent, the CPSP said.
Figures showed that the Border Gate checkpoint alone exceeded 50 million crossings as of May 30. Meanwhile, the Hengqin Port and the Macao Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge recorded over 10 million crossings this year as of May 7 and May 9, respectively, both ahead of last year's pace.
The police said it would further promote the use of technology in border operations and remain committed to a people-oriented approach to improve the travel experience. ■
